About the Daughters of the River
DOTR was born of a shared love for creating and mother earth. Our names are Meagan and Megan.
We have both been jewellers for a combined total of fifteen years and met selling our creations at a market in the fall of 2022. We quickly became friends and began sharing a home as well and after some time sharing a jewellery studio on our property we made the decision to close our seperate businesses and start DOTR together!
We live rurally in the Ottawa Valley on a large piece of land with Megan’s husband and two year old son where we keep chickens and nurture a large garden and spend lots of time communing with nature. In the summer you can find us swimming in the nearby lakes and rivers (hence our chosen name) and in the winter you can find us cuddled up by our wood burning fireplace or spending time in Mexico gathering inspiration for DOTR.
All of our jewels are inspired by the land we call home as well the many distant lands and cultures we have travelled to and enveloped ourselves in. We have both dabbled in many different forms of jewellery making over the years- from using old cutlery to sheet metal to polymer and ceramic clay and now lost wax casting! We have finally found the medium that we love and are diving deep into learning this craft so that we can share it with you all and adorn you with beautiful jewels!
We hope to, in the future, be able to pass on the knowledge we are gathering on this ancient practice and share it with those wanting to learn the ways!
